Static Cling?
I don't understand why the government thinks we need to postpone the roll out of digital TV. They say there are 6.5 million households unprepared. Well, isn't that the choice of the households? It's not like we haven't been barraged with the media about it. I am sick of all the buzz and have been impatiently waiting for next month when it was all going to stop. Now we may have to hear it through June! There are approximately 300,000,000 people living in the United States. I say 6.5 million is a relatively small number to be worried about. If their TVs go to a static screen then maybe they'll get up off their asses and do something about it!

I Want To Thank the Academy...
Well, folks, were are full on into awards season. Have you seen the movies? I have seen almost all of them.
Up for an Oscar for Best Picture:
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
Frost/Nixon
Milk
The Reader
Slumdog Millionaire
My vote is Slumdog, although Frost/Nixon made the decision difficult. Best Actor is harder to predict. Frank Langella was very good as Nixon but you can't count out Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler. I'm sure you are surprised that I saw The Wrestler. I was too but it was a very good movie.
As for Best Actress I wont even attempt. I haven't seen Rachel Getting Married or Frozen River. I'm not a fan of Anne Hathaway and I've never heard of Melissa Leo.
Supporting Actor and Actress never interested me but I bet Heath Ledger gets it for Actor. Robert Downey, Jr. did a fantastic job too so I think they should have a category this year for Best Supporting Actor in a Comedy and Best Supporting Actor in the Creepiest Role Ever. Marissa Tomei should win for Supporting Actress just for appearing naked (not pretty!).
The rest of the awards are so subjective that I would never speculate. You know Wall-E will win for Animated Film. I haven't seen it because I didn't think it could keep my attention but the more I hear about it the more I want to see it. Hopefully I can before awards night, you know, with all the gown fittings and jewelry choices.
See you at the movies!

I Saw Movies - Yes, my butt is flat!!
Here are the movies I saw on my Christmas Staycation (not necessarily in this order):
Pretty Girl and I started off the holiday season with Four Christmases
We laughed through the entire movie! My husband (Vince Vaughn) is great, as usual!
Slum Dog Millionaire
Very awful, excellent movie (can they be both? yes!)
Seven Pounds
Again, very sad but excellent! I love Will Smith. I don't think he can make a bad movie!
Valkarie
Ok, we all know how we feel about Mr. Scientology. You have to admit, he is a good actor. This movie was very good. I had so much anxiety, even thought I knew what happened. That's a darn good movie!
Gran Tornino
It's no secret, ask the Prettys, I love Clint Eastwood. I have ever since Rawhide. This movie was very, very good. The only thing I didn't like was his voice. It is very raspy. Pretty Teacher heard this will be his last movie as a actor. I kind of have to agree because it really bothered me to listen to him. It was painful, like listening to Pierce Brosnan sing in Mama Mia!
Nothing Like the Holidays
What can I say. I love movies where the family is dysfunctional.
The Changeling
Angelina Jolie was great in this movie, and of course Clint directed, so it could be nothing but good. Again, awful story, great movie.
The Day the Earth Stood Still
What can I say. Keanu Reeves still can't act. He only has one facial expression and luckily for him this role called for him to use it thoughout the entire movie. I would have to say that I don't think any of these movies were bad. Maybe it was just my holiday spirit taking over. Who knows?
Well, there are three more movies I want to see before I go back to work. Let's see if I can fit them in.
