The Graduates

So both girls graduated within a week of each other. What a hectic time, but it was fun. First we went south to Pretty Teacher's Honor's College Graduation where they presented her with a medal cuz she did good learnin'.

Then, we went to Pretty Girl's graduation where she graduated with honors and distinction, despite me, with her two year degree and will transfer to the big university up the road to major in Speech Pathology.

Then we went back down south for Pretty Teacher's Humanities Convocation (Spanish and Portuguese).

For entertainment there was a youth Mariachi group who couldn't sing on tune but were adorable anyway.

Next, we raced across town for the Social and Behavior Sciences Convocation (Psychology).

When this was over we went to a reception in another part of this convention center and lost Pretty Teacher but she eventually found us after borrowing two or three cell phones to find out where the hell we were cuz I told her we would meet her out front. And we didn't. And she turned out smart anyway.

Then we met Dr. Stone, Pretty Teacher's Honor's advisor, who gave her a "A" on her Honor's Project. Why wouldn't he. She may make a big difference in minority women's healthcare!

After that Pretty Girl and I drove home. Pretty Girl has learned to sleep whenever she is on a long car drive so she was tons of fun! The next day Pretty Teacher moved home from school and we went to Andy's graduation party. He's moving to Michigan for his Residency. He wants to be a plastic surgeon and I told him he could practice on me. He said ok, I guess he thinks I need it.

Then, the next day I had a Graduation Party for Pretty Teacher and Pretty Gilr with a few surprises. First Megan came to surprise Pretty Teacher cuz she's a great friend.

Then I surprised both Pretty Teacher and Pretty Girl with special cakes.

Yep, they are edible and the best cake you can imagine. Alison made them and she is very talented.

So this whole experience exhausted me but it was soooo worth it. I love Pretty Teacher and Pretty Girl!

Where is Cindy Lou?

So Pretty Girl and I went to see Horton Hears a Who. Don't judge me! I love Dr. Seuss, always have. I think my favorite is Fox in Sox. I love to read rhymes. So anyway, we went to see the movie and I loved it. It was hilarious! My real reason for going to see it was the Who people. I remember them from the Grinch movie. This was interesting to me cuz I wanted to see if they were the same Who people or is this was some elaborate trick to confuse me. They were the same, just the animated version. I was not disappointed!

By the way, I can't tell you if I like the animated version of the Grinch with Boris Karloff narrating or the Jim Carrey version better. I do watch the Jim Carrey version every year during the holidays. Also, we do know some people who actually look like Who people, I know you're jealous!

So anyway, the movie was a hit with Pretty Girl and me and Pretty Teacher was sad she didn't go with us. I guess graduation with 2 majors and a minor is more important!

Chickens

What to write, what to write, what to write. Once in a while I just don't have anything to complain about. I hear you all. But believe it or not, it's true. I don't want to write boring stuff cuz I don't want to bore you.

I do have something I do need to express though. How chicken shit is it to post anonymously and not sign your name? I post anonymously on other blogs cuz I can never sign in. Something about I can't ever remember exactly what my user name and password is. But I do put my initial so the blogger knows who I am. I think if you're going to write smart ass remarks you should identify yourself so I can comment on your comments. Also, if you feel I don't blog enough for you gimme something to blog about.

And another thing, I keep hearing that TV is back. What, one episode of The Office constitutes the return of TV? I don't think so. It won't be fully back until next week when Gossip Girl returns. Where is Grey's Anatomy and Brothers and Sisters? Now that's TV!

Ok, I'm done. I am still trying to upgrade my bathroom but keep running into road blocks. That gets me out of the mood. Hopefully, I can finish it this weekend.

Well, there you have it. That's all for now.

Hell Yeah!

I watched the premier of the new season of Hell's Kitchen last night. I saw an episode last season but thought Gordon Ramsey was so emotionally abusive that I refused to watch any more. Last night I didn't want to watch Dancing with the Stars, cuz I hate the contestants, so Pretty Girl and I decided to watch Hell's Kitchen. The first show introduces the chefs that will be competing. Oh my god!! They are so arrogant! Now I see why Gordon Ramsey is so mean to them. I now love the show. They deserve it!. It's just like his other show where he goes into a failing restaurant and revamps the menu and dining area (and sometimes the kitchen) to make the restaurant thrive again. Those owners/chefs never think it is anything they do that makes the restaurant go into decline. Yeah right. Like, what else would it be?

I just hope that when TV finally comes back later this month that nothing interfers with it. I hate having to catch up on the network website. It's so time consuming. I know, what else do I have to do?

So I saw this segment on the Sunday Morning Show about some church that has a campaign to encourage people to stop complaining. WHAT?!?!? What kind of world would this be if we couldn't complain, especially me! I live for it. What would I do if I couldn't complain. You love that I complain, oh you know you do! Oh, stop complaining!

Home improvement is fun. NOT! I try to do the little things around my house and they always turn into a big thing. Like changing out my ceiling fan. Should be easy right? After all, I'm not trying to install the electrical for it, just upgrade to a fan that doesn't make noises like the sound track of "Psycho", you know, that squeaking sound of the stabbing in the shower scene? Anyway, when I took the old fan off there were two black wires and one white wire. The new fan had a black, a white and a blue wire. I knew the blue wire was for the light kit because it had a tag on that stated as such. What I didn't know was if it was okay to just hook up the blue wire to the black wire. So, as usual, I had to ask Brien to help. Thankfully he always does. Luckily, he and Beth and Kathryn were on their way to IKEA so it was kind of on their way to stop and hook up the three wires. I can do the rest (hopefully!).

Next I plan on tackling the new faucets in the bathroom. Why do I hear that doom and gloom music, you know, Da Da Da Dum? The music when peril will ensue.

Gun shots not jello shots

So the other night Pretty Teacher and I were sitting here, doing who knows what (probably sitting on our asses!) when we heard this noise. I looked at her and she looked at me and we just stared at each other for about a minute and a half. We then just looked away and went about our business. I think Shana was thinking the same thing that I was...was that gun shots we heard?? I thought maybe it was but you know how sometimes fire crackers sound the same? It was slightly different but I never like to think the worst when it comes to those kinds of noises. I chose to forget about it until I was talking to the across-the-street neighbors. They asked if cops came to my house the other night to ask about gun shots. Huh. I said no. But now I wonder if it really was. Or just fire crackers that some person called in as gun shots. I guess I'll never know. Then another random thing happened that I emailed Whitney about cuz she usually is the one that sees this kind of stuff but for some reason I was lucky enough to be at home when it happened. I'll just post my email to her and her response. If you don't think her response if funny then you don't know us at all!

The email subject is "The Latest"

Hi Pretty Girl, I am sitting at the kitchen window remembering what happened to the last detail for you. At approx. 6:40 a.m. I was awakened by a loud truck. I got up to see what the hell was going on. I couldn't see anything from my bedroom window so I went in to the kitchen. There, in the street, was a Chandler Fire truck in front of Hans' house. I thought to myself, " Oh, I wonder if the creepy boy overdosed again?" So, I made coffee. While I was doing that Kerry and Valerie had to have the fire truck move so they could get out of their driveway. Then the ambulance arrived. What did I think? I thought "Well at least the neighborhood is safe for a few hours." What, to my surprise! They hauled out Hans! He was on his side. Weird, but what isn't over there? So now they are carting him off and the neighborhood must stay on alert for yet another day because the didn't haul away Creepy Boy. Love ya, Mom

Pretty Girl's response:

Danmmit!! First gun shots, then Hans in an ambulance! I miss EVERYTHING!!! Love you too! PG

Window of Opportunity

So, several months ago my driver's side window in my car broke. Not the glass but the motor that allows the window to go up and down. Well, really, the part that makes it go up. It goes down fine. I've been driving around town for months not being able to have it down cuz it won't go back up again. I have improvised by making the passenger side window go down if I feel the need to have some fresh (?) air. Well, now that I got some money back from the state and federal government, aka tax refund, I have been pondering the idea of getting the window fixed. My personal mechanic (that's right, I have a personal mechanic) says it will cost between $285 and $350 to get it fixed, depending upon if I want authentic Toyota parts.

When I weigh the pros and cons I am torn. The con is that if I want to go through a drive through ( bank, car wash, Starbucks) I have to bring Pretty Girl along and make her sit in the back seat to make the transaction. That's a lot of Starbucks.

So I know what you're thinking: "Who the hell cares?" Well I care cuz I've been having visions of road rage if I get the window fixed. I think that may be a con but I'm not sure. Like today, when I was leaving the Fry's parking lot and making a left out of a lane of parking. This car was whipping through the lot and had to slow down to 40 mph as I was apparently going too slow. I wanted to roll down my window and shake my fist at them and scream "That's right, I made you slow down pal!" I think that's a con cuz people get shot for that but then again, it could be a pro cuz I think that would have made me feel better. Of course, I don't really know cuz I haven't got the window fixed yet.

Truthfully, there have been several instances that I have thought about pointing out other's vehicular mistakes. So maybe I shouldn't get the window fixed. I'm sure Pretty Girl could use a few more Starbucks.
