Road Trip-Day 2

As we left Amarillo we saw what Adam says is the biggest cross. I can't be sure if he said in the U.S. or not, but here it is. It may not be the biggest cross, you will have to be the judge, but that's a later post (you'll understand later).

As we entered Oklahoma we had to swerve to miss an, you'll love this, an armadillo! I know, we couldn't believe it either! Sorry I don't have a picture of the little guy but I felt missing him was more important than a picture.

Here is a picture of Pretty Teacher waving at a Swift truck. I made her wave at every Swift truck from here to Connecticut. She didn't understand why but I told her that the cactus on her back dash and the AZ license plate would let them know that we were from Phoenix too. I thought it was a nice jesture, she thought it was presh (wink to Pretty Girl!). For those of you not in the know, Pretty Teacher realizes that my insanity isn't temporary.

When we got to Kansas we went to visit Pretty Teacher's friend Karen. She attends K-State.

They had a tornado the week before we arrived. She walked us all over campus to show us the damage. It was pretty bad. Tornados are not nice! Then we walked to Aggieville, a quaint part of town next to the University. We ate dinner and when we walked back we saw that the University has a Petticoat Land and a Lover's Lane. The campus is beautiful with a lot of buildings that look like castles. Sorry no pics, I didn't have my camera but here is Pretty Teacher and Karen...

Karen was nice enough to let us sleep at her house. So we did. When we got up the next morning we headed out. More on that later.

I'm back - Road Trip: Day 1

We left at 4:30 a.m. and didn't stop until be hit Amarillo, well we did stop for gas but you kinda have to. Our first gas stop was in Hollbrook. That town has a love affair with dinosaurs. Who knew?

Then we entered New Mexico...

and we never thought we would get through the state...

but we finally made it to Texas. Oh what a girl wouldn't do for cruise control!

and, as you can see from the windsheild, we were doing our part to keep the bug population down. You're welcome Texas!!

Once we got to Amarillo we realized that we had past Cadillac Ranch so we had to back track because who would want to go through Amarillo without stopping here?!

We got to the hotel and it began to rain. We met up with Pretty Teacher's friend Courtney and had dinner at "the finest Mexican Restaurant in Amarillo." If that is Amarillos' finest then I'm glad I don't live there. Actually, I would have to kill myself if I lived there.

After dinner all three of us went back to the hotel room so Pretty Teacher and Courtney could catch up. I, as usual, was channel surfing (what I always do when there is cable TV) when I came upon this local TV station...

tornado warnings in the county next to us! Luckily they didn't cross over to us. Amarillo did have a tornado the next day but we were gone. Gone to Kansas to see Karen. More on that next post.

AAAAHHHHHHHHH!

I'm starting to get nervous about the road trip. I'm afraid that if we don't leave a day earlier we might be delayed by weather...

...and we absolutely have to be there by Saturday so Pretty Teacher can report on Sunday. I don't want her to be late nor do I want to miss my plane ride home (I'm the one waving).

So I think I will get on those hotel reservations so we will at least have a nice place to stay.

I've Lost the Will to Live!

What is it about the beginning of summer that makes you not want to do anything? I have no desire to work or be at home (mostly cuz at home I would have to mow the lawn, do the laundry and clean the house).

I do have the desire to be on a beach and just sit there staring off into the ocean.

Even if it meant getting sunburned.

But alas, that takes money and that's something that isn't in my wallet. Hopefully, this mood will change soon. Probably around the time Pretty Teacher and I leave for the east!

You can't ever have enough Sex!

Sex and the City, that is! What a wonderful movie. It was like being back with old friends. I laughed, I cried, I didn't want it to end. I could have sat in that theater seat for another 2 1/2 hours.

VACATION!!!!!!!!!

Well, not really. Pretty Teacher is moving across the country and I'm driving out with her and flying home. What better way to see the country right? I can think of better ways. Don't get me wrong, I really am looking forward to being with her, I just have an aversion to driving through Bush Country (Texas)! But I don't see any way around it. Luckily, we will only be driving throught the top part. We will try to find the Scranton sign once we hit Pennsylvania and take our picture next to it. I know all "The Office" fans will be jealous.
