So, thanks to Pretty Teacher for clearing up the mystery:
Album of the year is an album (whole CD), record and song of the year are both individual songs. Song is a songwriter's category and goes to the lyricist. Record is the whole package and goes to the performers and producers.
I could have looked it up but, yes, I'm just that lazy!
(Yes, that's her $1,000 Manolo!) (I guess technically, that one is worth $500 because it has a mate.)

$1,050 actually - so the one is $525 ;)
And I am totally fine being your googler :)
I stand corrected!
The Pretty's Mama
Well you are both wrong. A shoe's value has a non-linear relationship to the quantity. Consider three shoes. Is that worth 1.5x a pair? Hardly. The 3rd shoe is virtually useless. Maybe it would be a good backup in case you break a heel, so it might be worth some amount but certainly not full price. Likewise purchasing one shoe alone would be good for a backup to an existing pair, but otherwise useless. However, there may be a market for one-legged people who want to save a bit of money and avoid buying pairs. For these people, one shoe might be worth 75% of a pair, so your value approaches $800. Case closed.
To those not following brien's advanced figures; here is a chart to illustrate

OMG I LOVE the graph!! hahahahahah
thank you, brien, you have such great inside and thought about that wayyy too much!
I always wondered how 1 legged people bought shoes. They totally get ripped off by having to buy the other shoe. I wonder if there is a market, say on Craig's List (haven't looked it up but will now). But I have to argue with Brien's point...shoes never come in threes. So...your point is mute. I do love the argument, farfetched as it may be and I do love the graph!
